These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ajlservice.com (the “Site”), operated by AJL Attorney Service (“AJL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a legal-support services business based in Sacramento, California. By accessing the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Not a law firm; no legal advice

AJL is a legal-support services provider, not a law firm. We provide process serving, court filing, and skip-tracing services for attorneys and law firms. Nothing on this Site, and no communication you have with us (including via the contact form, email, or telephone), is legal advice. We do not represent clients in legal matters and an attorney-client relationship is not formed by your use of the Site or by contacting us.

If you need legal advice, you must consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

2. Service inquiries vs. service engagement

Submitting the contact form, calling our office, or otherwise reaching out to AJL is a service inquiry. It does not by itself create a service engagement. A service engagement is created only when (a) we accept your order in writing (including by email confirmation of an order number) and (b) any required deposit or service fee has been received and processed. Quoted pricing on this Site is subject to confirmation when an order is accepted.

3. Permitted use

You may access the Site to learn about our services, request information, and submit service inquiries. You agree not to:

  • Scrape, mirror, frame, or republish Site content without our prior written permission.
  • Use the Site or its contact form to send unsolicited bulk communications, advertise unrelated services, or distribute malware.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, our systems, or our data, or interfere with the operation of the Site.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of any non-open-source portion of the Site.
  • Submit information that you do not have the right to share, or that violates the privacy or rights of any third party.
  • Use the Site in a manner that violates any applicable law, including California or U.S. federal law.

4. Intellectual property

All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, layout, code, and the “AJL Attorney Service” name and brand — is owned by AJL or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You receive no license to use any of this material except as expressly granted by these Terms.

5. User submissions

When you submit information through the contact form, you represent and warrant that you have the right to share that information for the purpose of obtaining a quote or engaging our services. You grant AJL a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process the submission solely to respond to your inquiry and, if applicable, deliver the services you have requested. We will not use your submission for any other purpose without your consent. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how we handle submitted information.

6. Pricing, holds, and changes

Pricing displayed on the Site is the standard rate at time of publication and may be updated without prior notice. County-tier classifications, urgency tiers (rush, same-day), skip-trace flat rates, and any volume discounts are subject to confirmation at order time. We reserve the right to decline any inquiry at our sole discretion, including but not limited to inquiries that fall outside our service area, require expertise we do not offer, or appear to relate to activity that violates law.

7. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites or services. These links are provided for convenience only; AJL does not endorse and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site.

8. No warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, AJL disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. AJL does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components, or that any information on the Site is accurate, complete, or current.

Service-delivery quality, timing, and outcomes for engaged services are governed by the separate written agreement or order confirmation between you and AJL, not by these Terms.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will AJL, its officers, employees, contractors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages — including loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption — arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

For any direct damages, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Site is limited to the greater of (a) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100), or (b) the amount you have paid AJL in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation applies to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AJL and our officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the Site, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or any right of any third party.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and AJL agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

12. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any order confirmation or service agreement between you and AJL, constitute the entire agreement between you and AJL with respect to your use of the Site.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, prompt you to re-acknowledge before continued use of the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
